Hey Everyone –
Just to clarify on my last post, those Playlist changes mentioned apply to PS3 and 360 and should be hitting here soon (in December), but I wanted to make it clear that the patch itself with the other changes (i.e. Host Migration, Kill Cams) that are only for the Xbox 360 will probably hit after December, as that requires going through certification, while the Playlist changes we can change dynamically. I noticed it getting reported as the patch getting released in December, and wanted to stop it before too many hopes got up.
Now for the PS3: The PS3 Connectivity patch will be hitting in the very near future and is separate from the Xbox 360 patch. The PS3 (exclusive) Connectivity patch will include:
US Data Center For NAT Server
Will make all US players connect to US data center and EU users connect to EU data center. This will optimize performance for all users in those areas.
Fixed ‘Downloading Game Settings’ Error
Fixed error with conflicting packet interaction.
Port 3095 Issue Corrected
Players were required to have port 3095 open in order to host. Now players who have port 3095 blocked can still host matches.
Matchmaking Optimization
Server search will end upon acquiring a certain number of good servers. Added “prefer” servers with best ping, this will optimize and expedite players finding and joining good matches.
In short, the playlist changes for both consoles will be hitting very soon, however the Xbox 360 patch will probably hit after December once it goes through certification. The PS3 connectivity patch will be hitting very soon and is separate from the 360 patch.
Let me know if you guys have any additional questions, the PS3 will be getting another patch in the new year which will contain some of the same additions as the 360 one but not all.

…Well, I thought…MAYBE that this patch would rip me away from Halo… but I guess I was wrong. Seeing as how Team Hardcore is out tomorrow, and Ranked big team in January… I really don’t think this game will be worth to play anymore.

Thx mate — look forward to testing it.
I am wondering about Oceania players?
EU to EU and US to US data centres is a-ok, but which do AU/ASIA players connect to and is it likely to provide any connectivity improvements for this region of the globe?
Cheers,

I know 360 gets all the goddies (host migration, kill cams) first and Ps3 will get a similar update later but will not contain all the features but eventually will the Ps3 contain the same features as 360?

Any chance you could post the patch changes for the PS3 version? Love the new network patch on the PS3 btw. Great work! I can connect to games just as fast as I was able to on the 360. (I recently moved to the PS3 version from the 360… long story.)
Cheers!

Saw the 360 playlist updates last night and I have to say it looks great. I love the separation of Hardcore TDM and Hardcore S&D. Making the Cage Match use Normal Rules is awesome (I’m not a fan of Oldschool Rules. sorry!) Lonewolf TDM is great and all the peeps wanting it from the Beta can now rest a little easier at night.
Great game! I’m still having a blast!
thanks for the updates

what a load of crap get the game working before you start editing maps and shit for the pc. how many patches have they seen, you have sold over 1.5 million copies of this game on xbox, get your arses into gear and get the patch to us,
you took my money you had a beta and you still couldn’t get it right!!!!!
sorry but i am getting sick of developers taking us for granted giving us unfinished games,
the only thing positive about this is that you actaully have it comming within 6 months this time still minor bug fixes still took you 3 months to sort.

FOURZEROTWO-
Merry early X-Mas to you! So far I’ve opened up Assassins Creed, The Orange Box and Mass Effect. I can’t wait to finish them but first… I think I’m going to finish COD4 on Veteran. What’s on your list? I’m sure working @ IW you get demos of any all games… I guess you can only wish for some more time off, hehe. Once the next IW COD gets ready to street you’ll be up to your ars in work. Any ideas on when more maps or changes are coming to COD4? Anywho… can’t wait for the patch in January…

GRRR!
I hate it when idiot developers don’t prioritise patches!
The create a class bug should have been fixed instantly, then followed by Host Migration, then extra kill cams.
I constantly get dropped from games,[sarcasm] but it’s good to know that in 2 - 12 weeks I can expect a patch.[/sarcasm]

So are the extra kill cams likely to come to the PS3 at some point? They sound pretty great. Host migration would eliminate a lot of pain, too.

CoD4 is amazing. Kudos that it recieved over Halo 3 and other FPS are well founded. The game play is refreshing. Perks are a good addition. Can’t wait until we get a Multiplay Browser patch… It would help out GREATLY!!!! WT heck was Activision thinking.

I also would like to know what choice we have for connecting to servers… I am in Japan and although I am on fiber optic, I get joined to US games with a much worse ping than anyone else… COD4 sold tons of copies in Japan (for a 360 title
)… how about helping us out!

When on the PS3, I go to multiplayer, play online, and then when I click on find game I get a “downloading game settings” message that sometimes lasts for 10 minutes or more. How do I get to playing faster? Is something wrong here?
Craig // May 20, 2008 at 4:40 am
Sometimes it won’t even download the settings and I have back out and try again. Once the game types pop up, everything runs really smooth.
