I recently talked with IGN’s Hilary Goldstein regarding the development of Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare; taking a look back at what could have been, why we chose to make it how it is, and changes that you may see in the future to the game. We touched on a lot of great subjects from vehicles in multiplayer to how the team finds inspiration for missions and future DLC maps.
Bowling revealed that there were once vehicle mission in the game and even Humvees in multiplayer. He went on to explain what was coming in the next patch and explained the process for creating multiplayer maps.

I read this interview from the host site. It does give some nice insite into the project that i was glad to see. I understand how vehicles didn’t make it into the MP and am glad for it it would definitily throw off the balance of the game and it is enjoyable as it is. It would be nice in the future to see another 3 single player missions as the campaign was amazing even after my 5th run through it i still enjoyed it very much. I am excited to see what the new maps are and cant wait to get them. Keep up to good work IW woot woot

I think they should have put vehicles in the game on MP would have made it better, I know they wanted more face to face action and they still could have done that….. Just split up the maps, Some maps have vehicles and others face to face action without vehicles!! Oh well COD4 is still fun so I can’t complain.

Excellent interview!!! I am really looking forward to the new maps.
I just downloaded the new maps for GRAW 2, and they are pretty good. One of the maps (Caves) would be really great in COD4. It is almost reminiscent of an Afghan mountain range. There are excellent sniping perches as well as close quarters areas.
Other things I would wish for in COD5.
- Ability to cut throats
- Include option to change melee tools
- Butt of current weapon
- Butt of Pistol (knock out teeth)
- Bare handed Neck Snaps
- Blow off limbs with high powered weapons
- Heads pop off when hit by certain weapons
- Include more brain matter animations
- More interaction with the environment
- Drag Items to create more cover
- push cars
- move rolling trash bins
- Incorporate a simple marking system
