I’ll be in New York this week for an event Gamestop is hosting which will allow you to get some early hands-on time playing the new DLC maps coming out for Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare as well as celebrating the launch of the new Game of the Year Edition of the game! If you’re in either New York, NY or San Jose, CA you can be one of the first players ever to play on the new maps as well as win gift cards, swag, and other goods for winning the on-site tournament.
If you get there early we’re giving out tokens to the first attendees so that they can download the new map packs for free as well as handing out swag all night, hanging out, and playing the new maps. I’m pretty sure the prizing at each location varies but I heard talk of some high dollar gift cards to Gamestop specifically. Check out the details on the two locations below.
As I said I’ll be at the 2-story Gamestop in New York at Time Square hanging out, talking with people and playing the maps, so if you’re in New York be sure to say hey. Our Lead Multiplayer Designer Todd Alderman will be heading to San Jose for the California event as well as sending a crew to London for a special press / promotional event over there as well.

Hey Buddy.
Was just curious if IW might have any plans on setting up the public matches where people can choose what maps they would like to play rather than just a random rotation. Some times you can play all night and not get on your favorite map 1 time. Other times you are with a group that has a great game on a map and would love to have a rematch there but you cant do it again because you are passed on to another map.
If we could get online and choose what map we can play each time, I would never stop playing.
Just wondering if this might be something that is being considered for COD4 in the future or not.

CTF would be great but i think it would be better with something else besides flages. like grab enemy intel and bring it to your base. but if it isn’t added then thats fine because sabatage is kinda the samething anyways

Cant wait for the new maps, but i would like to point out a couple of issues i think need to be resolved. firstly Juggernaut, if someone gets shot with stopping power and has Juggernoob on it should be like killing someone who doesnt have juggernaut on surely. Next hardcore mode. I think there should be a negative limit to stop people pulling out an RPG at the start of the game an taking their whole team out. eg. if you go -200 you get kicked out the game. then theirs the spawn shots with grenade launchers, any idiot can set up a private match and spend 20 mins perfecting were to aim to kill half the opfor when they spawn. their should be a 10 sec ban on noob tubes from spawning. also since the last patch i always find myself running behind someone frantically slashing at him before he finally dies on the 6th attampt. Also air strikes dont seem to be causing nearly as much damage as they used too.

This sounds like a great event!!! I would almost buy a plane ticket to come to this; but I’ll bet the Gamestop is going to be a nutt house and you can’t even get in the building. haha

Good news… wish I could attend, but no arena set in Atlanta… oh well. Sure there was a deal made for Xbox, happens all the time. No big deal… maps for PS3 will be out soon enough. And from what it is sounding like, PC users will get them eventually… most likely after a time period for when consoles get them. They want to make money from it first..

402, Let’s say you’re the host of the map pack event in New York. Then, for some reason beyond your control (lag maybe? or your boss decides to leave?) the event is suddenly cut short. Instead of heading straight to the next city with you, your crew and your equipment, everybody splits up and goes home. Then they all seperatly find their way to the next event.
This would be a case of HOST MIGRATION that does not work.
Please fix the basics of this game before the Duke Nukem Forever syndrome kicks in.
How did that make it past Sony’s certification board anyway? It took us 3 minutes to figure it out!

402, Have you guys ever considered varing the weather and day light conditions on all the maps just to change it up a bit. Some of the day time maps would be awsome at night or in different conditions. I would think that would be easier than creating new maps, even though we love that too. Anyway, thanks for all the hard work.

this sucks i want those damn maps for pc. pc is by far the superior system and more people play pc this for pc than both consoles. IW would make some good profits releasing those maps to us pc gamers.

Who would be weather and time be relative to? If I am playing at 3pm EST and I am playing with Aussies on the other side of the world is it Day and rainy (as it is for me) or is it night and clear (as it is for them)? I would suggest that it should be the host of the game, but it this is probably a waste of bandwidth on an already taxed signal.
In any case, I would rather know whether we’ll be able to play the DLC in the regular play lists or whether it’ll only be in private/special lists.

I went to this event in San Jose! The way they handled getting everyone in was cool, but the tournament could have been better. I do understand why they handled the tournament the way they did with such a large amount of people present though.
The tournament was 8v8 Big Ground Wars, forced Auto-Assign, using the premade classes from split-screen mode. Whoever got the highest score out of EVERYONE in all the rounds got the $1000 giftcard. This wasnt an even evaluation of skills because they changed the map after 4 games from Chinatown to Creek. Chinatown was higher scoring than Creek, in general, so the people who played on Creek had no chance of beating the high score of 492. I’m not complaining for myself, as I got to play on Chinatown, and was in the match where the person scored 492 (I got 440 =\ ), so I got beat fair and square. My cousin got first place on Creek with 392 though, after spending most of his time running around without extreme conditioning.

If I wait a couple months will the maps be free?
Paying for content is getting out of control, I have read that Battlefield Bad company ( which lets you choose what map you want to play on ,,hint hint ) is actualy considering charging players to use more weapons, you will get a start set of weapons, some more you can unlock by ranking up, then there are many others that if you want to use them in the game you will have to buy them with MS points. As long as people keep paying for content MS will continue to nickel and dime us to death.
Why not just give the games away for free and start charging people per bullet fired in game, Charge a fee everytime you take control of a vehicle.
If you want to charge someone for something, start making people pay like 10 MS points for every team kill they commit in game.
